Canopy is a certified arborist practice working in the Dandenong Ranges and surrounds. Tree health assessments, crown management, hazard removal — delivered with the patience the forest deserves.
Canopy was founded in 2009 by qualified arborists who grew up in the Ranges. We work on the premise that healthy trees and safe properties aren't in conflict — they're the same goal, achieved through careful diagnosis rather than default removal.
Every engagement starts with a thorough on-site assessment. We read crown structure, root zones, site drainage, and growth history before we recommend anything. If a tree can be saved, we'll tell you. If it's a genuine hazard, we'll remove it safely and explain exactly why.
When a tree comes down, or looks like it will, Canopy responds around the clock. We assess structural failure, hanging limbs, root uplift, and lean — then clear safely using technical rigging rather than guesswork. Chainsaw and chipper on-site within hours, not days.

Structural + aestheticWritten arborist reports for councils, insurers, and purchasers. Root zone inspections, pest and disease diagnosis, and long-term management plans.
Reports & consultationComplete stump removal to 300 mm below grade. Site left tidy, suitable for re-planting or lawn reinstatement. Mulch from your own timber available on request.
Full clearanceSpecies selection suited to the Ranges' volcanic soils and rainfall patterns. Habitat hollow installation, understorey planting, and Dandenong Ranges National Park boundary work.
Ecological focusEvery Canopy job follows the same disciplined sequence — whether it's a heritage-listed Mountain Ash or a suburban Liquid Amber that's outgrown its space. We take the time other operators skip, because rushing tree work is how people and property get hurt.
Book a site visitOn-site assessment
We visit, we look — root zone, crown, bark, lean, neighbour context. No phone quote, no satellite measure. A qualified arborist walks the site with you.
Written recommendation
You receive a written scope — what we'd do, why, and what happens if you don't. No pressure, no upsell. Council-suitable arborist reports available where required.
Safe, tidy execution
Certified climbers, current WorkSafe compliance, technical rigging on challenging removals. Site left clear — timber stacked or chipped to your preference.
Follow-up care plan
For ongoing management clients, we schedule future visits and track tree condition over seasons — the kind of continuity that only comes from a local practice.
Had three large Mountain Ash threatening the house after the July storms. Canopy came out the next morning, assessed properly, and had everything cleared by afternoon. No drama, no damage, left the yard spotless.
We needed a council arborist report for a heritage Manna Gum. The Canopy report was thorough, clearly written, and accepted first time. Appreciated that they explained it in plain English, not just arborist jargon.
Running 12 acres in the hills, I've used a lot of tree services over the years. Canopy are the first mob I'd call back without hesitation. They know the bush, they work carefully, and they don't cut corners.
Canopy is based in Belgrave and works throughout the Ranges corridor. We don't take jobs outside our patch — we know this terrain, these species, and these councils. That local knowledge makes a difference.
Free phone consultations Monday – Saturday. Site assessments from $165 inc. GST — credited against any work we carry out. No call-out fee for emergency situations.
